My new netbook is finally here and ready to be messed with. It is the Asus Eee Series 1008HA. This will be one of the more difficult hackintoshes, mostly I’m having to swap out some of the hardware to make it Mac OS X compatible. This particular netbook is not designed to be easy to modify. There are no doors in the casing to allow easily changing chips. So I’ll have to completely take apart the casing which involved carefully prying apart the plastic shell and disconnecting several busses. Most inconveniently, the Ram stick is located on the underside of the motherboard. I’m not sure where the wifi card is exactly, but I’ll have to find and swap it out. Also the hard drive will be removed and replaced with a Solid State Disc that I got specifically for this project. I can connect an external cd drive via usb to load the Mac OS X software and necessary bootloaders to allow the hack. Hopefully all this will be complete by the end of the week.
